SO MUCH RAT POOP October 20,2024 This weekend we left Anacortes feeling quite disgusting.  We did 3 dump runs and the last one on the way home was especially smelly.  On our way up we stopped in Stanwood and bought an old farmhouse door for $100 from a lady off Facebook Marketplace.  It is so beautiful.  I will take a picture next time I am up.  My mission this weekend was to get the carpet tack and the staples out of the downstairs bedroom.  I completed my mission and then I also removed the carpet tack and staples from the stairs.  Chad tore down the bedroom ceiling because we need to figure out what is going on with the upstairs bathroom.  Chad discovered 3 feet of space behind the bedroom closet.  There is a sewer pipe, furnace duct and furnace exhaust vent in that space.  We also discovered 3 dead rats and so much poop.  When Chad tore down the bedroom ceiling we discovered the rats had been all up in the insulation. ...

FB MARKETPLACE DEALS AND HABITAT FOR HUMANITY I got 2 bathroom faucets off Marketplace for $100 each.  They were originally $330 each and they are so beautiful.  Solid brass.  Then we headed over to Habitat and I found a kitchen faucet and some wooden heat grate covers.  Made a stop at Harbor Freight for some miscellaneous stuff. Ended the day picking up some wood window and glass out in Burien off marketplace.  We got 5 windows that we are hoping to put in the porch as fixed windows.  The guy had a bunch of wood windows from years of saving them when he would replace windows in people's houses.  He is going to take the rest to the dump if he can't sell them and I hate hearing that.  I am hoping that he lets me know when he gets ready to take them to the dump because I am just crazy enough to go out there and take them.   I took pictures of the house off the listing because I really haven't taken a lot of pictures.  Especially pict...

FREE CRAIGSLIST FINDS AND WHAT'S UNDER THE STAIRS October 10, 2024 I have had a productive 3 days off.  On Tuesday I met up with Laura from Laura's Wood Windows and she showed me her shop and gave me a lot of pointers on how to redo our wood windows.  She did this all out of the kindness of her heart.  I contacted her with the hopes that I could pay her to give me some lessons.  So this was just our initial meet up to see what I knew and what I was looking for.  The plan is for me to take down one of my sashes and then she will give me a lesson with my own sash and tools.  I took a lot of notes and got a ton of information from her.   On Wednesday I headed into Seattle to get a free cast iron double sink off Craigslist.  There was a moment when I didn't think I was going to get it in my car.  It is heavy but I did it.  I was so proud of myself.  Then that night I was looking on Craigslist again and found some plexiglass storm ...

WE HAVE SHIPLAP AND WOOD FLOOR IN THE KITCHEN October 6, 2024 This weekend I feel like we got a lot done.  There is still so much to do but at least the house is starting to smell a bit better, until you go upstairs.  The renter that lived there locked their dogs upstairs and it smells so bad up there.  We got there on Saturday morning and of course I started on the yard.  Chad had come up on Saturday and took a bunch of logs and yard waste to the dump.  I was just raking up some of the debris to try and fill the yard waste bin since we have to pay for garbage we try and fill it.  Still finding small bits of trash in the yard.  Chad bought a magnet roller thing so I rolled it around the yard to pick up some metal.  The truck was full so we did a quick run to dump so we could fill it up again.  While we were at the dump some guy that the floor guy gave our number to gave us a call about leveling the house.  He sounded like he wanted...
