HELP FROM SAGE

Sage is here visiting from Los Angeles.  He came up to Anacortes with us this morning to help with the demo on the house.  We brought up the 2 doors we bought from Earth Wise Architectural Salvage.  I found the doors online at the Aberdeen store and paid $5 each to have them transferred to the Seattle store.  They are 5 panel doors with transoms on top.  We are going to use them for the downstairs bathroom and downstairs bedroom.  The doors are beautiful.  I want to find the pulley hardware to open and close the transoms.  While at the salvage store I found my chandelier.  It is brass and so darn beautiful.  $175 plus tax.  I love it.

When we got to the house we started planning.  Chad set up the doors with some 2x4's so we could get an idea of what it could look like.  Then we all talked for a long time about how to lay out the bathroom. Chad and I both want a walk in shower and then a separate claw foot tub.  From the final layout we should have room to fit that all in.  Now to find a tub.

After planning and talking we got to work.  Sage totally tore down all the paneling and most of the drywall from my studio.  He also started working on removing a lot of the paper/wallpaper off the ship lap.  I cleaned up the stairs a bit more.  The corners of the stairs had a build up of dirt so I scraped that out and vacuumed and then proceeded to make a mess by tearing down paneling in the stairway.  It is always like a treasure hunt to try and figure out what was done.  I don't think we will ever fully know.

I also used the pet urine remover in Wren's room and the hallway.  For sure the smell is getting better in there.  I know I say that every time.  Chad tore out the rest of our upstairs bedroom floor and worked on some plumbing.

The asbestos inspector found asbestos floor 2 layers below the bathroom floor.  So we will have to figure out what to do about that.  We wanted to demo that bathroom which I am now calling an outhouse because it is a bathroom and it sticks out from the house.  Our plan was to rent a dumpster for the week of thanksgiving and get that bathroom torn down but now that may not happen.  We will still rent the dumpster and continue with demo.  Hopefully we will have enough stuff to fill a 6 yard dumpster.  I believe we do.  There is already a pile of stuff in our bedroom upstairs that we have just been stashing till we get the dumpster.

A really bad picture of my chandelier. I will get a better picture.  It needs a good polish.
Sage working in my studio.  He came prepared with his overall Carhartt's.
Peak at some wallpaper in the stairway.  Where the old railing was?
Tearing off the paneling and checking out what is under the wallpaper.
Took the trim board off the first corner step.  Look at that beautiful wood under there. These stairs look pretty darn rough.  I am pretty sure they were painting red in the middle of the step at some point.
The stairs again.  I really hope that the flooring guy can work some magic on these things.
Wallpaper on the ceiling in my studio.
Wren's room.  Paneling I had removed from the hallway.  This room may have had the worst pet stink.
Standing in Wren's room and looking down the hall into my studio.  Bathroom is on the left and our room is on the right.
After I took the paneling off the hallway I discovered another door that led into our bedroom. So maybe our room was 2 rooms?  At some point they added a dormer.  There is shiplap under the drywall except for the spot where the door was.
Hallway.  Our room on the right and bathroom on left.  Studio straight ahead.  Stairs just after the bathroom on the left.
Tin can lid repair of the subfloor in our room.
This is our room with all the dumpster stuff piled up.  The wood stove stack goes through our room and we plan on bricking that off.  I am also going to do something different with the closet.  I have some free Ikea wardrobe parts that I may paint white and use.
The dumpster pile in our bedroom.  The ceilings in here are a lot lower than in Wren's room and the studio.  Chad suggested we coffer the ceiling.  At this height I won't be able to use my schoolhouse light.
Looking down the stairs at the mess I made.
Sage cleaning up some of the mess he made.  A lot of progress was made in this room today.
My studio.  Such fancy wall paper.  All the doors lined up.  I will probably just give the doors a fresh coat of white paint.  With all the ship lap I feel like I need some white.
